Match Report

Match Report - 20 Jan 2008, Wadhurst United Junior Football Club Team not current lost to Jarvis Brook

A pleasing performance against a team that play two divisions higher than ourselves and who were flattered by the final result.

Both teams started well but Jarvis Brook carried a greater attacking threat and it needed some resolute defending including a couple of goal-line clearances from Murrie to keep things level. The pressure eventually told with Jarvis Brook taking a 2-0 lead, but it was far from one way traffic and Ross L scored just before half-time to keep it at 2-1 going into the break.

The second half started in perfect fashion with Ross L scoring his second to level things up and for a few minutes a memorable victory looked on the cards. However, Wadhurst began to tire and Jarvis Brook used the space well scoring three quick goals. Even then the players found something extra and had the best of the last ten minutes and it was very harsh on them when Jarvis Brook added a sixth right on full-time.

There were some excellent individual performances today. Callum, Ross L and Michael played to their usual high standard and took the game to Jarvis Brook. Despite the scoreline they were supported well by the defence. Campbell put in some great tackles, but was just edged out of the Performance Award by Josh who had his best game this season. Man of the Match was Murrie who worked extremely hard throughout and kept us in the game well into the second half.
