Match Report - 26 Feb 2012, Wadhurst United Junior Football Club Team not current beat Hastings United Youth
The response to last weeks poor performance was impressive as the boys put in one of their best performances of the season. Passing, movement, commitment and communication, it was all here today. Strong at the back, hard working in midfield and quick up front, if we had taken all of the chances we created it would have been double figures.
We started with three big changes today, Sam Evans volunteered to play in goal replacing the injured Luke, James started deep in midfield and Ross Lennox made a welcome rare start wide on the right. The work rate was good from the start and we were soon a goal up when Ross J scored from close range, this was shortly followed by another close range effort from Mike. Hastings then had their only good spell of the game which culminated in Sam pulling off the save of the day to deny Hastings a way back. Mike and Jake were solid in the centre giving Harvey and Carlin the chance to attack from full back. After yet another Wadhurst corner, Ross J was given too much time in the area and he smashed in the third just before half time.
A mix up in the Hastings defence gave the hard working Louis the forth goal, giving us the chance to make some changes. Woody replaced Louis, with Ross L moving up front and Ross then hit a well deserved hatrick, including the best goal of the game with a vicious volley. Murrie replaced James, who had a great game playing in front of the back four and Dom came on to replace Ross L.
This was a great team performance with all 14 players really up for it today. MotM went to stand in keeper Sam Evans, particuarly impressive for the way he left the indirect free kick which was the only time he was beaten!
