Match Report - 29 Jan 2012, Wadhurst United Junior Football Club Team not current beat Hastings United Colts
A game that Wadhurst dominated but could not take their numerous chances nearly ended in disaster as we gifted Hastings two goals and nearly a third right at the end. This was a game where our forwards could not score and our defenders could not defend, although luckily our defenders did manage to score!
Rory and James started today, replacing Callum and Woody, and both players began well with plenty of movement in midfield. The first half was pretty much one way traffic as Wadhurst pressed forward, we missed a few chances and the Hastings keeper had an inspired match. The first goal duly arrived but it was a scrappy affair with James' shot taking a big deflection. Mike scored the second with a great header from Murrie's free kick. Hastings hadn't had a chance all of the first half but a mix up at the back left the Hastings player an open goal only for him to completely miss kick.
Sam Evans replaced Harvey for the second half and again it was one way football with Louis, Sam, Woody and Ross all missing good chances. A Hastings break showed up our poor tackling in midfield and his 25 yard shoot sailed over Luke in to the top corner. Our forwards continued to miss chances but luckily Mike was on hand to stab Sam's corner in to the net. Again we let Hastings back in to it when a 30 yard free kick again sailed over Luke, this put us under pressure for the last few minutes and it looked like Hastings had equalised with the last kick of the match but the ball somehow went passed the post.
A well deserved three points but a below par performance all round. MotM deservidly went to Rory for his midfield display today.
