U14 Team win Sussex County Cup

21 Apr 2015

Wadhurst U14 team Kent Youth League team beat Rottingdean from the Sussex Sunday League in the Final of the CP Mason U14 Sussex County Cup, it was the first time that any team from Wadhurst had won a County Cup Final.

The final played at FA Headquaters in Lancing was a close match, Rottingdean had only lost 2 matches in league & cup over the past 2 years, although Wadhurst had beaten them in the semi-final last year.

The match played on a small hard pitch was a scrappy affair with neither team able to play much passing football or create  many chances in normal time, although the Wadhurst keeper Neill Di Lucia was the busier of the two.

However in the first half of extra time Ollie Duncan scored from a corner to put Wadhurst one up, this meant that Rottingdean had to abandon their defensive game and attack in the second half, as a result Wadhurst had numerous chances as the game opened up and Charley Kendall scored the second with 5 minutes to go.

The Wadhurst team: Tom Anstee, Harry Barratt (capt), Stanley Bobbin, Harry Cohen, Neill Di Lucia (Keeper), Oliver Duncan, Joel Hand, Oliver Hersey-Swan, Charley Kendall, Rob Lawrence, Luca Nwanosike, Dylan Orr-Brown, William Payne, Oliver Welbourn and Leon Wright.  Coaches: Dan Pring, Tim Anstee & Matt Lawrence.
