Match Report - 14 Feb 2009, Wadhurst United Junior Football Club Team not current lost to Chipstead

On Saturday 14th of February Wadhurst were playing
Chipstead at home. At this point they were top of the league and we were second on goal difference. It was going to be a hard match.

They had kick-off but we had the down hill advantage. It was pretty even for the first ten minutes, but then they scored. However their lead was short lived as Kieran Johnson’s shot took an awesome deflection past the keeper.

But they scored again. It was two-one. We tried hard to get another goal as James Holland (captain) proved with a shot from the half way line that the goalie just tipped over the bar. In the end we were rewarded, Chipstead scored an own goal! It was two all at half time.

The second half they had all the advantages. And they soon proved that by taking us on the counter attack and scoring two goals against us. But we weren’t to be disheartened and Sam Steward soon got one back. But it was too little too late. They came out top with a four-three victory.

James Holland
Captain

Another great team effort from the whole squad. The last time we played Chipstead they won easily, this result shows just how much the team has improved. I must mention our goalie Thomas Colley who played with real courage and kept us in the match making some well timed runs to clear the ball - well done.
