Match Report - 18 Nov 2007, Wadhurst United Junior Football Club Team not current beat Langton Green
An excellent win for the team, which had to be ground out in strong winds and a biting wind.
This was the return fixture with Langton Green, with the first one producing a comfortable away win. However, it was clear from the kick off that this would be a more resolute opposition and it was no surprise when Ross L's early goal was cancelled out by an excellent strike to make it 1-1 after 15 mins with the game at this stage very even. Slowly though Wadhurst gained the upper hand and we saw some excellent wing play from Toby and some good combination play between Murrie and Ross L, with Murrie scoring twice to make it 3-1 at half-time.
It was clear that a strong performance would be needed in the second-half with Langton Green having the advantage of the slope and that was exactly what we got with Wadhurst enjoying the majority of the possession and creating chance after chance. However, it needed a Ross L penalty which was earned after he had been bought down at the end of a fine solo run, to break the second half deadlock. The fifth and six goals were awarded to Callum and Michael after the dubious goals committee had adjudicated, but they should be very grateful to Jack who had a claim in both and whose box to box play earned him the Man of the Match award. The Performance award goes to Toby for some great work on the Left wing. Mention must also go to Tom who held his concentration well in the freezing conditions to bring off a fine 1 on 1 save and help maintain the all important goal difference.
This maintains our 100% home record, which will now be severely tested with the visit of Ringmer next week.
