Match Report - 25 Mar 2012, Wadhurst United Junior Football Club Team not current beat Rusthall
After putting Woodchurch out of the title race last weekend, another fine Wadhurst performance did the same to Rusthall with an emphatic 4-0 win. With James preferring Paris to an early start at Jockey Farm the only change to the starting line up saw Ross Lennox coming in on the right of midfield.
Kicking up the slope Wadhurst dominated from the start and went ahead after only 10 minutes when Ross L used his strength and speed to out run the defender to strike from the edge of the area. Shortly after Louis was brought down in the box and Sam stepped up to coolly dispatch the resultant penalty. Several chances were then wasted although the Rusthall keeper pulled off some decent saves. Rusthall were dangerous on the quick break but Jake was having a great game at the back with Murrie working hard in front of the defence. The deserved third goal came just before half time when Louis latched on to a loose ball in the box and smashed it home.
Woody and Sam Evans replaced Louis and Harvey at half time as Rusthall predictably started the second half strongly. Gradually the Wadhurst midfield took control again with Murrie, Ross J and Callum outstanding before Ross L put over yet another good cross which Woody turned in to seal an important win.
Another good team performance, another clean sheet with Luke handling the ball well on the few occasions that he was called into action, but most pleasing was spirit and desire from the lads – no doubt trying to impress before next week’s cup final. MotM went to action man Callum in midfield who never stopped running and was always involved.
