Match Report - 15 Jan 2012, Wadhurst United Junior Football Club Team not current beat Rye Bay
A hard fought win over previously unbeaten Rye Bay saw Wadhurst reach their third successive Cup Final. This proved a great all round team performance in a well deserved win.
For a change Wadhurst started well, dominating possession and making some good openings with Louis and Woody looking dangerous. A goal after 10 minutes settled the team; Sam chased down a defender, won the ball, took it round the keeper and scored from an accute angle. Rye were always a handfull on the quick break but we were solid at the back with Jake in particular having a good game. Callum and Ross were running the show in midfield and getting the ball wide to Sam and Woody. Their keeper pulled off an excellent save to thwart Woody, but he got his reward shortly after when he fired high in to the net. Rye came back in to the game and a defensive mistake just before half time gifted them a goal.
Rye started the second half with confidence but never really threatened Luke in goal, and Carlin was playing well at left back. Gradually Wadhurst began to dominate again and the chances started to come, both Louis and Woody coming close. James came on for Woody and Rory for Murrie. Louis was finally rewarded for his non stop running up front with a well deserved third that finally put the game beyond Rye.
A great all round team performance with MotM going jointly to Jake and Ross.
