Langton Green vs Wadhurst Juniors (Elm)great report by Mark Campbell

Saturday

Result 0 v 4

Wadhurst Juniors eventually triumphed after a very competitive match.

The first half was evenly contested with every ball keenly fought over. WJFC played some good football and controlled possession more comfortably than Langton Green who were keen to pressurise the ball and attack on the break. In particular Langton’s keeper had an excellent match and his first-half contribution kept the scores level.

WJFC coach Anthony gave a tough team talk to the away team who would have the added disadvantage of playing uphill in the second half. His motivational talk included an offer of free chocolate if the team could score 5!

It nearly worked with Man of the Match midfielder Archie opening the scoring with a wonderful chip from the edge of the area soon after the restart and striker Luke Saville bagging a brace of goals with midfielder Natty scoring in between.

‘Elm’ Captain George Campbell and George Rusling in defence kept a well deserved clean sheet with some tough tackling and good interaction between the pair.

Anthony escaped with his wallet intact at the final whistle and everyone applauded a job well done.
