Match Report - 08 Mar 2009, Wadhurst United Junior Football Club Team not current beat uckfield united
This was the last, but one game of the season and with the pressure still on, it was another must win game - Ive never known a season were so many games have been 'a must win game' - I suppose thats what happens when you are chasing promotion !
Uckfield Utd, like so many teams this season raised their game against us and gave us a tough and battling game - even though there wasnt to many saves for Murrie to pull off, it was a nailbiting match - and one for all the spectators that were there, noticing how particluarly calm and well balanced I was during the full 80 minutes.
Again a good performance by all, with everybody doing their jobs quickly and efficently, Campbell Chase came in for a rare appearance and pulled of some well timed and balanced tackles - well done Campbell.
With the score 0-0 at half time, we had to come out for the 2nd half and take the pace up a gear, we pushed forward continually and pulled numerous good or lucky saves from Uckfields keeper and with 15 minutes left we broke the deadlock and scored our much needed goal - I cant explain why it wasnt a goal, because it was - and the 6 year old the ref asked for advise as to whether it was a goal or not, agreed with me !!!!!!
So, unfortuantely, the goal did not count, so we squezzed higher up the pitch and put even more pressure on Uckfield and with 10 minutes left a powerful run down the right wing and hand in hand with some great skill Tim Haywood volleyed the ball top right hand corner and all hell was then let loose - great celebrations from the touchlines and some very bizarre but nevertheless amusing dancing from Nick Haywood celebrating his boys wonder strike !!
Bring on 80's Nite and maybe he'll teach us all such moves !
For that alone and keeping the season on track , this weeks Man of the Match is Tim Haywood - well done Tim !
