Match Report - 07 Mar 2009, Wadhurst United Junior Football Club Team not current beat Jarvis brook

Wolves (won 4-1 and 4-2)

The team was set up with 2 up front, 1 midfield and 2 at the back acting as wing backs, Guy and Austin worked hard on both wings and in defence shutting out the Jarvis Brook attacks, clearing the ball well and looking for a pass when possible rather than just kicking it away.

Sam in midfield was always looking for space and calling for the ball. Once receiving the ball he made good use of it covering ground when he could and linking well with the two up front Fraser and Albie resulting in Albie scoring the first goal. He also scored in the second match.

Jarvis Brook scored almost straight away from the restart as our boys were not paying attention leaving Archie no chance. Archie played extremely well for the rest of the game coming out to shut down the attacking striker, great goal kick from his hands and made a wonderful save in the second half from a very powerful shot from long range.

Austin "Goal scoring Hero" scored a wonderful goal coming from the centre out to the left hand side skipping over a couple of tackles on the way then shooting back across the goal into the right hand corner. He then went on to score another goal in the second half and also one in the second match.

Fraser ran non stop in the game, a very good couple of runs from one end to the other resulting in a well earned goal. He also took a free kick that David Beckham would have been pleased with. The Free kick was given outside the Penalty area on the left hand side. Jarvis Brook made a 3 man wall which was not enough as Fraser curled it over the right hand side of the wall and hit the bar with a tremendous amount of power for a young lad, had it gone in it would have been the goal of the season for sure. Fraser also scored a goal in the second game.

James did well with some big tackles and also had good awareness when he was passing the ball, for the second half of the second game he played in goal and made a couple of good saves so well done him.

Toby played well looking to pass out from the midfield positions calling for the ball and tackled well when needed. You could see a lot of improvement from him in both games

The team looked and passed to each other , kept their positions well, great team work, with the second game really good to watch as it was from end to end action and the score would have been much higher if it wasn't for their brave goal keeper.

Both teams played as a team and every parent of the players should be very proud of the way they played for each other and the way the conducted themselves both during and after the match.

Roll on the next game at Ashurst Wood on 28 March.
