Mars suffered this week… what with missing some key players, Luke having a chest infection and Ricky suffering from an Asthma attack early in the game!… Despite all this, the players still played their socks off. With everything going against the team a result was always going to be difficult but the team can be pleased with the effort and fight they put up. Once again there were strong performances from Dan, Jonathan and Angus.
Mercury 2-2, 1-1
First game against a strong JB team saw us take a first half lead with a great run from halfway from Toby and powerful shot in the top corner. JB came back strongly in the second half and scored 2 quick goals on the break. In the last few minutes James scored a spectacular goal from a short corner at an impossible angle.
Second game we dominated and some good passing between James, Harry & Toby resulted in another great strike by Toby, good attacking runs by Joe from the back meant we were pressing for a second when they hit us on the break and Valentine scored..
Whole team played well Fred made a couple of great saves, at the back Joe and Ed defended well, James and Harry covered the whole pitch and Toby used his pace. Sam was a valuable sub in both games.
Man of the Match: James for his work rate, passing and that goal.
