Match Report - 13 Jan 2008, Wadhurst United Junior Football Club Team not current beat Uckfield
This was another comfortable win for the team albeit against an understrength Uckfield team.
Unfortunately Uckfield were only able to field 9 players but were very competitive from the off and would have taken the lead after ten minutes being denied only by a fantastic save from Tom. The plan had been for Callum, Michael and Ross L to sit out the first half, but it was great credit to the Uckfield lads that they forced a change after 15 mins to the Wadhurst line up. This did make all the difference with Michael setting up Ross B almost immediately for the first and quickly scoring a second and it was 3-0 at half-time.
A higher level of performance was demanded from the Wadhurst team in the second half and they responded well, making much better use of the space and putting together a number of good moves. The majority of the play was in the Uckfield half and despite a fine display from the Uckfield keeper we were able to achieve our biggest ever win. Ross L has clearly found his shooting boots again with another hatrick, Ross B and Michael both scored twice and Callum and Mark added the others.
Ross B gets the Performance Award for what was easily his best match this season. Ross L, Michael and Callum all laid claim to the Man of the Match award, but Callum just edged it with some superb delivery at set pieces added to his usual outstanding work rate.
