Match Report - 21 Oct 2007, Wadhurst United Junior Football Club Team not current beat Ashurst Wood
A thrilling match with Wadhurst surviving a late onslaught from an excellent Ashurst team. This result being all the more important as it puts the team into the top 2 in the division.
The first half could not have gone better. Ross Lennox scored four times and with Josh and Murrie also taking their chances, a 6-2 lead at half-time looked relatively comfortable. However Ashurst had shown, with two outstanding goals, that they would offer a greater threat in the second half with the advantage of the slope. This proved to be the case and with the majority of the play in the Wadhurst half, defending became desperate at times. However, the defence marshalled brilliantly by Murrie, held on and the final whistle just came in time.
Man of the Match was Ross and Murrie got the Performance Award. However, mention must also go to Calum who as always led the team by example from start to finish.
