Wadhurst United Junior Football Club

Match Report

Match Report - 19 Feb 2012, Wadhurst United Junior Football Club Team not current beat Ashurst Wood

The Wadhurst domination of possession and territory should have made for an easy victory. However, we lacked a cutting edge today and wasted chance after chance and then looked like throwing the game away at the end. The poor state of the pitch and missing Louis up front certainly didn't help.

Although our general play was not too bad we struggled with the final ball and despite plenty of shooting practice in training couldn't translate this to an actual match. Goalless after 60 mins we had to change something and put Ross upfront to replace Woody and brought Dom on out wide. Immediately this looked to have worked but Callum's header was somehow ruled out by their linesman. It always looked like it was going to take something special to score and with about 15 mins remaining Dom hit a superb 20 yard shot passed the excellent Ashurst Wood keeper.

When Sam F scored shortly afterwards it should have been game over but Ashurst Wood suddenly came back into it and for the last 10 mins Wadhurst began to panic at the back but finally held on for the win.

Although the 3 points were deserved we need to start playing better away from home as there are tougher games to come. Ross J was MotM for his battling performance.
