Wadhurst United Junior Football Club

Match Report

Match Report - 04 Dec 2011, Wadhurst United Junior Football Club Team not current beat Ridgewaye

Although Wadhurst snatched a win at the end, this was a very below par performance. Ridgewaye were much improved from the 9-1 Wadhurst win earlier in the season and most of the boys looked and played like they were expecting a walk in the park. Our attitude and commitment was wrong from the start and only two fine early saves from Luke kept Wadhurst in the game. It was no surprise when Ridgewaye finally did score but even that did not seem to wake the boys up.

A half time admonishment did give way to some urgency in the second half and moving Ross Jefferies in to midfield began to pick the team up. Mike was his usual reliable self at the back and he and Luke, who pulled off another couple of fine saves, kept Wadhurst in it. Gradually we began to create some chances with Louis in particular working hard up front. The breakthrough finally came when Ross deservidly scored with a diving header. This gave us some belief and a few minutes from the end Mike rose to head in the winner from a corner.

Without doubt the poorest display of the season but the boys did eventually show some character to snatch a win from the jaws of defeat. Ross, Mike and Louis played well but all of the team should thank MotM Luke for some great saves and keeping Wadhurst in the game.
