Match Report

Match Report - 02 Dec 2007, Wadhurst United Junior Football Club Team not current lost to Rotherfield

I must begin this report with an apology to the players who were forced to try and play football in completely unsuitable conditions due to the refusal of Rotherfield to accept a postponement. Thanks to everyone there, including the supporters, for making the best of things when it was not sensible to be playing a football match.

On such a day the winning team will always be the one that copes with the conditions best and that was certainly Rotherfield. They made the most of the slope in the first half and took a 4-1 lead into half time, the Wadhurst goal being scored by Michael. Sadly for Wadhurst any advantage from the slope in the second half was negated by a wind that seemed to get more fierce by the minute and in the accompanying driving rain, the match deteriorated into a lottery. Ross L (2), Ross B and Murrie all scored, but with the Wadhurst defence barely able to see at times for the rain, Rotherfield were able to maintain their lead through to the final whistle.

Tom gets the Man of The Match award for a totally committed performance in goal right through until the final whistle (as well as some bloomin good saves) Campbell gets the performance award for an especially resolute contribution in defence.
