Match Report

Match Report - 03 Feb 2008, Wadhurst Junior Football Club Under 16's lost to Ringmer Rovers

This loss was perhaps no surprise given Ringmer's excellent record this season. However the margin of defeat was disappointing, especially since it did not flatter the opposition.

It is always crucial when playing stronger teams to get off to a good start, but we never got going in a very poor first half and Ringmer cruised to a 7-1 half-time lead. In a better start to the second half we at last began to match Ringmer for movement and workrate and when Michael was able to add the second goal it looked like a measure of respectability would be bought to the scoreline. However it proved impossible to sustain the effort and it needed the final whistle to bring some relief to both the players and supporters. Attention now moves to our match against Ashurst Wood next week, which will settle which of us finishes 3rd in the league this season.

There is no man of the match award, but Tom, Reece and Mark all deserve great credit for battling performances in goal and defence, with all 3 refusing to let their heads drop. We have decided that the Performance Award will be shared between Reece and Mark
